The Business Case for an Ice Plant at Kallin, North Uist
Reported and commented on the adequacy or otherwise of current ice supply arrangements in the area, established the likely level of demand for ice at Kallin, and identified commercially available ice-plants that might be suitable.
Drew on the experience of suitable comparator projects elsewhere in the UK. Identified the most suitable site for an ice plant at Kallin Harbour. Obtained quotations for capital costs, allowing for installation, services and project management costs.
Developed the business case for an ice plant at Kallin Harbour and advised on operational models, taking account of capital costs, grant funding possibilities, operational and maintenance costs, revenues and risk analysis.
Advised on the project specification and procurement process. Assisted the client with the preparation of grant funding applications and in particular a bid for FIFG funding.
